First steps

At the scene — calmly, in order.

Five things to do before you do anything else. Take your time on each one — every photo and every contact you collect now makes the claim cleaner later.

  1. 1. Secure the scene

Hazard lights, warning triangle (~50 m on out-of-town roads, ~100 m on highways), high-visibility vest. Get yourself and passengers out of the danger zone.
  2. 2. Call 112 if anyone is injured

Even minor injuries — paramedics document them, which matters for the personal-injury claim. Call the police (110) on damage above ~€2k, hit-and-run, suspected DUI or disputed fault.
  3. 3. Take pictures of everything

Wide shots of both vehicles in their final positions, close-ups of every damage point, both number plates, both driver licenses (with permission), the road and any skid marks. The scene disappears the second the cars are moved.
  4. 4. Exchange details, get witnesses

Name, address, phone, insurer and policy number from the other driver. Names and phone numbers of any witnesses — independent witnesses are gold in disputed-fault cases.
  5. 5. Don't sign anything from the other insurer

Especially not anything labelled “Schadensanzeige” from a third-party insurer or their preferred appraiser. Call us first — we'll tell you what's safe to sign.

When you're ready: call us at +49 176 22152891. We'll meet you on-site within 60 minutes in Hamburg, take independent photos and start the file. The other insurer pays our fee.
